With the Kawasaki ZX12R Ninja, Kawasaki plunged into the high-performance sportbike war raging among the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers. The Ninja's liquid-cooled, 1199cc DOHC, 16-valve 4-cylinder engine generates a peak power of 178 bhp at 10500 rpm.The Kawasaki Ninja's revolutionary all-aluminium monocoque frame and cast steering swingarm pivot areas realise an extremely stiff structure and contribute to the bike's superb high-speed stability and supersport handling performance. The ZX12R's wind-tunnel designed fairing was developed with help from Kawasaki's aircraft division and the redesigned upper cowl has a shorter nose for improved aerodynamics and a sportier look. In honour of an agreement reached among Japanese manufacturers, starting with 2001 models, Kawasaki introduced speed limiters in the ZX-12R to reduce the bike's top speed to 300 km/h.

MV Agusta F4 CC
-> MV Agusta F4 CC <-
“I decided to put my name to this bike as I originally dreamed of it for myself”. This is how Claudio Castiglioni, the Managing Director referred to the new MV Agusta F4 that now carries his initials “CC”. The boss of MV did what any of us might well have done and gave in to his desire to create a motorbike, not just to meet strategic market needs, but to create something really special, something truly magnificent - just for the sake of it. To create the F4CC project, Castiglioni utilised everything at his disposal; exclusive materials and the latest technology to attain the utmost in performance. The figures for the new MV Agusta speak for themselves: 315 kph (195 mph) top speed (auto-limited by tyre specification) for 100,000 euros. Unique in its genre, sculptured by his friend Massimo Tamburini (see MV Agusta F4 Tamburini), made with luxurious design and high components hidden in the MV close, right in that corner where the embryo start to develop: the MV AGUSTA racing department.Each F4 CC will have a platinum plate at the top of the steering column bearing the model number from 1 – 100. The F4CC titanium exhausts and engine management unit together have the task of taming the power of the 1078 cc, 198 hp engine.

the fastest motorcycle in the world
A friend of mine just bought a BMW 1200 and suggested that it is one of the fastest motorcycles in commercial production. I looked up the fast motorcycles in the world. According to http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2001/JerryChan.shtml which lists the major speed records of motorcycles, the Guiness book of World Records lists the 322.16 mph set by Dave Campos in 1990 as the world record, powered by two 1491 cc Ruxton Harley-Davidson engines.
